Maynes Training
Throughout all of our training courses we let the family-run aspect of our company shine through as our courses are developed and delivered personally by Director Kevin Mayne. Kevin has personally developed and built up our training catalogue since passing his Industry Training Qualifications in 1993.
Since then he has created, nurtured, and delivered internal training to all our staff to ensure the height of knowledge, understanding and expectations of the company are the core values of all our employees.
Andrew Smith, has passed his training qualifications and with guidance and support from Kevin has begun conducting his own CPC courses as well as delivering inductions, in-house training to our employees whilst also administering and monitoring the performance of staff to see when additional training is necessary.
Maynes offer in house training courses such as the full range of CPC Training, our own tailored Whisky Ambassador course and our highly commended Mental Health training that is delivered by Kevin.

The Leading Standard in Training
On the day a driver first starts working at Maynes Coaches they are given a guided walk around our premises, where they are shown emergency exits and first aid points as well as where everything is kept and how everything such as the main door and the cleaning equipment operates. Initial training covers the company policies and procedures and the driver is then issued with an in- depth training manual and pack for their own use. This will aid our drivers through any issues that they may find them selves facing as well as a detailed description of the expectations they are required to meet.
The vitally important aspects which are in the manual and driver packs are re-iterated verbally by the trainer and these meetings are carried out on a one to one basis allowing the driver to fully understand the regulations which are in place at this time.
The driver is then given a driving assessment and a multiple answer test to check their training needs. Once this has been completed and their individual needs identified they are discussed with the driver, allowing time for extra explanation and for any questions to be answered before highlighting the areas of the manual which need to be studied in depth.
We also have online training on drivers hours available in conjunction with the Guild of British Coach Operators which all of our drivers undertake as part of their on-going training plan.
Management and staff are fully committed to a programme of training and quality accreditation.
Maynes have been undertaking accredited in house training since 1993. At present Maynes are also proud to be the only Scottish member of the Guild of British Coach Operators, and have won several awards as Coach Operator of the Year to underline their commitment to excellence.
All our drivers are highly trained professionals and have experience in all types of school hires, private hire, conference and tour work. Many of our drivers have been with Our Company for up to 20 years and we are proud of the many requests and compliments we receive for them.
Every one of our drivers goes through a tough selection procedure to ensure that we employ those with experience and professionalism, we choose drivers with the right personality that ensures that our customers receive the kind of care and attention to details they deserve. Our driving team is supported 24/7 by our operations team to ensure that our passengers safety and enjoyment is first and foremast.
All our driving team goes through a stringent in house training plan, undergoing approximately 17 hours training per year from basic safety procedures to defensive and interactive driving tests. Also, we check our driver’s history by undertaking a full disclosure check as well as having driver’s license checked by the DVLA at 3 month intervals, ensuring they have the full license entitlement for the type of vehicle they are likely to drive.
