Our itineraries have been carefully crafted to ensure that you experience the maximum of the Majestic Highlands in one day. We can combine an ancient castle - Pass the infamous Culloden battlefield - Enjoy a wonderful view of the legendary Loch Ness - With plenty free time in the city of the Inverness to enjoy the shops or just wander through the capital of the Highlands.
Below is an example itinerary that is very popular amongst our private groups:
We leave the shores of the Cromarty Firth behind us and head towards the famous Loch Ness Passing through the historic town of Dingwall which was a centre of Viking administration and decision making, and was on the frontier between the Norse held Northern Scotland and the Kingdom of the Scots. We then head through the beautiful village of Beauly 'C'est un beau lieu', from the french what a beautiful place, was Mary Queen of Scots reaction to the grandeur of the scene when she stayed in Beauly in the 16th century, and local tradition credits the naming of the village to her.
Our coach then head over some wonderful Highland Moorland before dropping down to the village of Drumnadrochit!! the epicentre of all things Nessie!! We then head up to Urquhart Castle ( payable entry ) for an opportunity to spot the Loch Ness Monster and a catch photo of the castle as it drops down towards Loch Ness. Our journey continues northwards up the Great Glen, a scar like fault line which runs over 60 miles from Inverness in the north to Fort William in the south.
Our coach then takes you to Inverness City Centre where you have plenty free time to explore the city centre where this thriving city offers a rich variety of things to do and see from shopping and culture to eating and drinking. You could also visit the pink crenellated castle with wonderful views down the River Ness, or simply take a stroll through the streets.
We then take a scenic drive through the city and head out passing the Culloden Battlefield . The Battle of Culloden was the last pitched battle fought on British soil. It was the final, bloody confrontation of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. With over 1,200 dead in just one hour Culloden was a short but bloody battle The battle was the final confrontation of the 1745 Jacobite Rising. On 16 April 1746, the Jacobite forces of Charles Edward Stuart ( Bonny Prince Charlie ) fought loyalist troops commanded by William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland. The Hanoverian victory at Culloden decisively halted the Jacobite intent to overthrow the House of Hanover and restore the House of Stuart to the British throne.
We then take in some splendid countryside before arriving at the fantastic Estate at Cawdor ( payable entry ) where we will spend 1.5 hours here to give you the ample time to look around castle and Gardens. A magical name, romantically linked by Shakespeare with Macbeth. The superb fairy-tale Castle has just what every visitor is looking for, full of Scottish history that you can touch and see and sense for yourself. Cawdor Castle is a splendid house and the home of the Cawdor family to this day. Cawdor Castle dates from the late 14th century and was built as a private fortress by the Thanes of Cawdor. The ancient medieval tower was built around a legendary holly-tree.
Sadly we have to return to Invergordon via the outskirts of Inverness over the Kessock Bridge onto the Black Isle Despite its name, the Black Isle is not an island, but a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water – the Cromarty Firth to the north, the Beauly Firth to the south, and the Moray Firth to the east. we then cross the Cromarty bridge and retrace our steps back towards Invergordon where we say haste ye back as you re board your ship with fond memories of Our Majestic Highlands.
Please get in contact with your personal requirements and we can create a bespoke itinerary that is specific to your travel availability and requirements.

We can also provide Small Group Shore Excursions that generally range in size from 6 -20 people, providing a more personalised experience than bringing your small group together with the large excursions offered by the cruise lines. Our Standard Group Shore Excursions typically range from 20-50 people.
These tours are similar in size to those of the cruise lines. While these shore excursions are larger in size, our focus on quality remains extremely high.
A Maynes Tour Is A Step Above The Rest
Unforgettable experiences: Our shore trips are hand-picked by the experts! Unbeatable standards and you don't pay cruise line prices. We know that you will have a choice of coach operators but by booking direct with us you will cut out the handlers and others company's that only charter a coach for the day.
For those who are unsure about booking a shore excursion with a private company, we always plan to get you back to the ship a full one and a half hours before sailing to ensure you have plenty time with no need to rush.
We do not waste time on the day of your tour taking payments checking tickets or booking people in at the last minute; we will depart as soon as all guests board the coach.
The only way to make a shore excursion is the Mayne way.
