Your Safety Is Our Priority

The maintenance of our coach fleet is the Company’s highest priority. We operate a large and well equipped workshop within our Buckie Depot and is our main site for maintenance, with the ability to carry out mechanical work at our other depots also.

At Maynes we are committed to a maintenance schedule of four weekly safety inspections. Routine maintenance and repair work is undertaken by our highly skilled engineering team ensuring that your safety is paramount. Our company having a very modern fleet adds to our commitment to your safety with all our vehicles having the most up to date onboard safety systems including additional technology such as our onboard telematics systems and other technology such as driver apps that we have invested in.

Al Maynes we invest millions in our coach fleet and we are the first to recognise that the safety of our passengers is the most important part of our business, with that in mind from the moment your driver arrives at the start of your journey you will receive a full welcome and our driver will spend time explaining the vehicles safety and comfort features, this ensures that nothing is left to chance and your journey starts right first time – every time.

We also offer extensive in house training on all aspects of safety, which you can learn more about under our training page.

Travel in Safety and Security

We have an in-house workshop consisting of four experienced mechanics and our apprentice mechanic. Our workshop team is highly skilled, having received national recognition at the most prestigious awards within our industry and are constantly partaking in a variety of training courses which means that you can be assured that our fleet is of the highest standard and you can travel in comfort and safety.

We are proud to say that we have some of the most highly skilled, professional drivers as part of Team Mayne. With outstanding passion for coaching and our hands on approach to professional training, Maynes have the ability to ensure that your executive travel requirements are met and that your expectations are exceeded.

On the day a driver first starts working at Maynes Coaches their initial training covers the company policies and procedures and the driver is then issued with an in- depth training manual and pack for their own use. This will aid our drivers through any issues that they may find them selves facing as well as a detailed description of the expectations they are required to meet. The driver is then given a driving assessment and a multiple answer test to check their training needs. Once this has been completed and their individual needs identified they are discussed with the driver, allowing time for extra explanation and for any questions to be answered before highlighting the areas of the manual which need to be studied in depth.

We invest heavily in our workshop, driver training and our fleet. Should you wish, you are welcome to view our main depot at a pre-scheduled time.

Onboard Technology

It is not only the mechanical aspect of the vehicles that we keep in top form, but we also have invested heavily in onboard technology that boosts our safety credentials and has solidified us as being the UK’s Coach Operator of the year once again in 2022.

In the coach, our drivers benefit from top of the range satellite navigation, with drivers driving style given advice to improve efficiency and smooth driving, the system identifies routes appropriate for the size of vehicle and will calculate, or re-route vehicles using TomTom HD Traffic information, the system collects tachograph data from the vehicle and analyses every coach and driver in our fleet to comply with drivers’ hours. The system also monitors driver behaviour, acceleration, braking and several other parameters, giving information to the driver allowing him to drive the vehicle in the most efficient way, and produces reports on vehicle fuel consumption, the time the vehicle has spent idling and CO2 emissions.

The system also has full camera integration allowing us to view the journey live in our office as well as give alerts due to drivers driving style or any time a pre-set parameter is exceeded. We worked closely with TomTom to create an API to allow the Distinctive Driver App to run on the screens which are fitted to the vehicles, to allow the drivers to report defects and carry out the electronic check on our equipment.
