Our Mercedes Tourismo coach and some of our Mercedes sprinter mini coaches were called in to assist with the response directly during the COVID pandemic by the NHS.
Our Tourismo was prepared in-house and began a service as a mobile vaccination unit for the NHS. The coach was used for over 12 months as a dedicated vaccination coach working across the north of Scotland from Thurso to Dundee across to Skye and the ardnamurchan peninsula and back to Aberdeenshire.
Many thanks to the NHS teams that have worked with our company daily since September21, Big thanks to all of our team that stepped up to make the entire project happen 7 days a week, over the last few months on the demanding rolling 7 day contract across the North Of Scotland.
Maynes were involved in the local Covid-19 response and formed a close partnership with our local NHS and provided numerous response vehicles which were used to provide a safe and rapid transport solution to the ill and vulnerable members of the community.
In the early stages of the pandemic, we provided a Covid-19 Response Vehicle which was on 24/7 standby to transport patients to and from critical appointments, ensuring they were able to attend treatments and appointments in a safe, socially distant and effective manner. This involved a vehicle with the capacity to allow a safe social distance of minimum six meters, full PPE, consistent and rigid sanitation routines, and a stand-by driver. This particular programme ran for numerous months and often included the transport of key workers who had no access to their own safe transportation.
During the roll-out of vaccines, we also provided a full-size Mercedes Tourismo which was converted into a purpose used, NHS Vaccine bus which would travel the entirety of the Highlands, Moray, Grampian and Aberdeenshire with a team of medical professionals to administer the Covid-19 vaccine rounds. This service was also utilised to deliver flu vaccinations to schools, as well as numerous other sites.
John our dedicated vaccination driver, backed by our fellow driving teams on COVID response and support, saw variable weather, met thousands of people at so many vaccination points centres, the spectacular remote Highland scenery Scotland offered was simply superb and equally scary too.
This is work we are immensely proud of and are glad to have been able to have done our part in ensuring that the NHS could operate in the best capacity possible, and that we were able to provide a service that benefited and often saved lives of those in our community.
